Bacu Locci mine (Villaputzu, Cagliari Province).

Description:

Bacu Locci is an arsenic, lead and zinc mine.

Late 1800: mining researches by Emile Jacob.

1919: mining concession to Miniere del Larium Company.

1938: mining concession to Rumianca; this company built a plant, a washing station and a lot of buildings.

1952: 120 workers worked in this mine.

1965: the mine was closed.

Today, Bacu Locci mine is abandoned; in this area there are pollution problems to solve.
