San Benedetto mine (Iglesias, Carbonia Iglesias Province).

Description:

San Benedetto is a lead, silver and zinc mine.

History:

1869: discovered by Ing. Leon Gouin.

1871: mining concession to Soc. Petit Gaudet.

1872: mining concession to Soc. Vieille Montaigne; this company built a little village and plants.

1941: mining concession to Soc. AMMI.

In the 80's first the SAPEZ and second the SIM are operating in this area.

Today in the little San Benedetto village living a few families.
