| Funtana Raminosa mine (Gadoni, Nuoro Province). Description: Funtana Raminosa is a copper mine. History: 800 BC: Mining exploitation back to the Nauraghic Civilisation. The Romans continued the mining activity. 700 AD: mining activity by Saracens. 1517: mining activity during Spanish dominiation. 1886: discovery of mineral deposit by Mr. Luigi Sanna Manunta and Emilio Jacob. 1908: mining research by Paolo Guinebertie. 1915: mining concession to Soc. Anonyme des Mines de Cuivre de Sardaigne; the Company built a plant and a washing station. 1936: mining concession to Soc. Anonima Funtana Raminosa. 1940: mining concession to Soc. Cogne Spa. 1960: mining concession to Soc. Cuprifera Sarda. Finally in the 70's mining concession to EGAM and SAMIM; it was builted a new washing station, but never used. Today, Funtana Raminosa mine is open to visitors; it's possible to visit the air compression centre, the Rampa Brebegargius and the small museum. IGEA (For info: 0781491300 - www.igeaspa.it).
