The mines of Salto di Quirra | |

Check the discounts The "Salto di Quirra" (the sardinian word "salto", from the latin saltus, means a vast uncultivated country area) is a vast area in Sardinia's south east, sandwiched between the ancient regions of Sarrabus, Gerrei and Ogliastra. Due to most of the area being a NATO military zone it is sparsely inhabited and scarcely visited. Yet this is a fascinating destination, well worth a visit for its geological formation - a calcareous slope covered by Mediterranean shrubs and woods, further distinguished by its pronounced karstic formation. This trip is a combination of mineral, geological and ecological observations and, as it last the whole day, includes lunch, a visit to the old mining villages and plants of Baccu Locci and Sa Lilla plus a glimpse of the important natural and geological relics, abundant in the area. | Add this offering to your chart: Check your chart Back to the catalogue Check the discounts |
